I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Durham, North Carolina and have worked in the areas of psychology and social work since 2001. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Psychology with a concentration in Counseling and went on to receive a Master's of Social Work (MSW) with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Practice.
I have experience providing both long and short term therapy. My graduate internships were at Duke University's Employee Assistance Program, Personal Assistance Service (PAS) & Duke University Medical Center on the Mother-Baby Unit and in Pediatrics. I have worked as a Clinical Social Worker for John Umstead Hospital's Alcohol & Drug Abuse Treatment Center (ADATC) with both Detox and Rehabilitation programs. At WakeMed Rehab Hospital, I was the Clinical Case Manager and team leader for the Spinal Cord Injury team. I have been in private practice since 2007, with my office now located in Durham.
I view psychotherapy as a natural response to the challenges and transitions of life. I am purposeful about being a careful listener. I strive to provide a safe, supportive, and understanding environment for people to explore their concerns as openly as possible. My style is collaborative and interactive, as I also offer insight, interpretations, and different points of view if I think it could be helpful. I work together with clients to create a process that fully respects the individual needs and comfort level of each person.
