I am a licensed clinical social worker associate, providing mental health counseling to children, adolescents, adults, couples and families, in Durham, North Carolina. I work together with clients to navigate anxiety, depression, learning differences, eating disorders, family trauma (I am an EMDR provider), identity exploration and many other challenges and transitions.

I completed my MSW at UNC-CH concentrating in direct practice with children and adolescents, with internships at Student U in Durham and the Art Therapy Institute in Carrboro. Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a teacher in school settings animated by Quaker values. These values shape what I bring to the field of social work more than anything else. The primacy of integrity, simplicity, stewardship, equality, and peace, as well as the superpower of self-reflection, are just a few of these values.

As a therapist, I strive to help my clients understand and relate to the world around them as well as to their internal emotional landscapes. When working with younger clients and their families, I apply a life course perspective, acknowledging the natural tumult and variation in experiences of growing up and emerging into adulthood. I come to all therapeutic work with an intersectional lens of all the experiences and identities that shape our.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, working with this population continues to be one of my greatest passions. I believe it is essential for a person to have an experience in which they feel affirmed. I have had the opportunity to work with many people as they grapple with coming out to friends or family, and as they navigate questions about who they are and what makes them unique.

Within our therapeutic work, I provide a safe place to simply be and allow space for clients to not know all of the answers. I honor the need for all of us to find corrective experiences of identity affirmation and safe spaces, allowing clients to explore, grow, and evolve. In order to listen to, and ultimately understand other people and support them in changing their lives, I believe they must first know themselves. With humility and excitement, I offer my services as a partner in this exploration.

I am currently accepting new clients, and I invite you to reach out to discuss working together. I am an in network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield and considered an out of network provider with all other insurance companies.
